Abstract

This work shows a description where the impact of ICT Information and Communication Technologies in Ecuadorian higher education was analyzed, this was done from indicators that reflect their growth in the educational field at the national level, from here the theoretical inputs and technological aspects, existing interactions between ICT and education in the functions of the education system were determined, allowing innovation in the transmission of new knowledge. The student has gone from being a passive receiver of information to an element that actively participates in their own learning, but it must be clear that the keys to changing teaching methodology have always been linked to how they are used in these new media, the convergence of face-to-face and virtual teaching that over the years will become face-to-face in favor of virtual. The social factors that affect, both positively and negatively, the use of new technologies in the university environment were also analyzed. But, above all, the deficit in the emergence of ICTs in Ecuadorian society, gives us an idea of ??the paradoxical and striking fact that and sees the need to develop capacities and potentials aimed at improving the living conditions of the inhabitants.
