Abstract

The development of listening comprehension foster in students the interaction with aspects of language that later benefit the integrated development of the rest of the linguistic skills. Thus, there are strategies and subskills for listening comprehension that not only facilitates comprehension, but also the motivation towards foreign language learning in different levels of education. The main topic of the current article relates to the development of listening comprehension through extensive listening activities, which have a characteristic its development outside the school classroom. The objective of the article is to analyze the results of a study conducted with elementary school language learners, with the lead of professors from the University of Cienfuegos “Carlos Rafael Rodriguez”, using a quantitative methodology, which allowed the description of events as they happened during the study. The main results show a favorable change in the development of the skills from the diagnosis phase to the application stage of the proposal.
