Abstract

From ancient to contemporary philosophy, the epistemological advance of the word value has been seen thanks to the contributions of philosophers for the construction of the "axiological" world that we know today. Therefore, the purpose is to show, from the documentary review and the author's reflections, the various positions of philosophers on the subject of values and how this term can provide not only knowledge but also its evolutionary experience to universities. The methodology used was the documentary review with the support of the descriptive record of each document consulted, it is worth noting that the information presented is organized in a systematic and chronological way, exposing the various positions of philosophers of ancient and contemporary history; For this, a walk was made, for example, to the thought of Aristotle, Immanuel Kant, Wilhelm Windelband referring to his school in Baden, Max Scheler, to philosophers in the Latin American context such as Zaira Rodríguez and José Ramón Fabelo Corzo. As an essential result, the evolution of values is shown, passing firstly through the recognition of the human being as an entity that experiences its environment in the conscious, ethical, spiritual; to the conception of man in a more social and transformative vision. As a reflection, I consider that values are necessary for the growth and improvement of the new society, and it can be a great contribution from our universities in Latin America and the world.
