Abstract

The research arises from the need to have methodological frameworks adapted to rural contexts characterized by limitations in resources, infrastructure, and technical training. A quantitative exploratory–descriptive approach was adopted, using surveys based on an adapted version of the Lean Startup Orientation Survey (LSOS). This methodological aspect was relevant in the discussion, as it made it possible to explore entrepreneurs’ level of knowledge of the methodology, while the Likert-scale survey provided information on management practices and perceptions. The implementation of this technique confirms the appropriateness of the selected approach. The questionnaire was reduced to 20 items to ensure clarity and applicability in a rural environment, while maintaining acceptable levels of reliability (Cronbach’s coefficient > 0.75). The study analyzes how the Lean Startup methodology impacts the management of rural entrepreneurship projects in San Miguel de Bolívar, Ecuador. The results show that entrepreneurs manage their resources effectively, demonstrate the ability to adapt to environmental changes, and project their initiatives with a sustainability-oriented vision. A relevant finding is that, even without formal knowledge of the methodology, many entrepreneurs apply practices aligned with its logic, reflecting empirical learning. Among the variables evaluated, sustainability obtained the highest score, evidencing a strategic orientation toward the continuity and growth of projects. In conclusion, Lean Startup is confirmed as an applicable framework in rural contexts, provided it is adjusted to their sociocultural particularities. The findings highlight its positive impact on resource organization, adaptability, and the sustainable projection of entrepreneurial initiatives, as well as the importance of strengthening training processes and support networks to enhance local development.
